Established in 2003, the New Zealand Opera Foundation Trust is a registered non-profit organisation, completely independent of New Zealand Opera Ltd.

Over the years the Foundation has built up an endowment fund made up of planned gifts, such as bequests, which are carefully invested and distributed when required to support the long-term future of opera in New Zealand.

The Foundation’s overarching purpose is to encourage and support the development of opera at a professional standard and to nurture the special vocal talents of aspiring young New Zealand Opera singers and the creative skills associated with the art form.

Support from the Foundation allows New Zealand Opera to bring home Kiwi singers who have made it to the world stage to perform in their home country. However, the Foundation doesn’t just help fund New Zealand Opera’s activities, it also helps fund independent opera projects around the country and gives grants towards development scholarships for aspiring young kiwi singers. In other words, the Foundation supports the entire ecology of opera in New Zealand and safeguards its future.

You can leave a legacy of music through a planned gift to the New Zealand Opera Foundation.
