Fee Fi Fo Fum
Magic seeds. A giant. A towering rātā vine. A singing cow.
“Our children walked away humming the tunes and follow-up discussions led to a newfound appreciation for the art form.” – Teacher on 2026 Opera in Schools tour of Lucy Mulgan’s RED!
NZ Opera’s celebrated Opera in Schools programme comes to the public stage. Join Jac on an epic adventure in this brand-new work by New Zealand composer Lucy Mulgan, inspired by the much-loved tale of Jack and the Beanstalk but with a distinctly Aotearoa flavour.
Created for children aged between five and ten and their families, Fee Fi Fo Fum combines memorable melodies, larger-than-life characters, storytelling and audience participation in a lively theatrical experience full of magic, humour and imagination.
Proudly commissioned and developed by New Zealand Opera as part of our Opera in Schools programme, this enchanting new production offers a joyful first encounter with opera. Alongside the public performances, Fee Fi Fo Fum will tour schools across Aotearoa, introducing thousands of tamariki to the joy of live singing, music and storytelling. Perfect for children, grandchildren and the young at heart, it’s an opportunity to share the magic and love of opera with the next generation.
