Rebecca Meltzer

Based in London, Rebecca is an Opera Director, Movement Director and Educator, her practice inspired by her love of interdisciplinary performance, uniting her backgrounds in classical music, theatre and dance. She is a graduate of Durham University (BA Music) and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (MA Movement Directing & Teaching), and recently took part in Gecko Theatre’s professional development programme for physical theatre practitioners.

​As a Director, Associate/Assistant Director and Movement Director she has worked with companies and institutions including the Royal Opera House, Scottish Opera, Garsington Opera, Opera Holland Park, English Touring Opera, Spoleto Festival USA, Theater St Gallen, Wexford Festival Opera, Bury Court Opera, Shadwell Opera, British Youth Opera, National Opera Studio at Welsh National Opera, Iford Arts, Dorset Opera Festival, The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Blackheath Halls Opera, Tête à Tête Festival and Feral Productions.

Rebecca has taught Movement and Stagecraft at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, The Royal Academy of Music, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, British Youth Opera, The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and the Royal Opera House Jette Parker Programme. ​

Rebecca is also a founder of Waterperry Opera Festival, ​and now leads their acclaimed Young Artist Programme for emerging singers and directors. For WOF, Rebecca has directed productions of Acis and Galatea (Handel), Svadba (Sokolović) Mansfield Park, Ariel (Dove) and Hansel and Gretel (Humperdinck).
