Tū Tamariki

Uplifting and encouraging our tamariki to stand strong in their identity and the spaces they’re in.

Tū Tamariki is a space for Māori driven works, created specifically for tamariki and rangatahi.

Tū Tamariki is a space to uplift and encourage our tamariki to stand strong in their identity and the spaces they’re in. The hope is that all tamariki may be inspired and excited through seeing themselves, their culture, and their language reflected, treasured and valued through this inspiring kaupapa.

Our first opera, Te Hui Paroro written and composed by Rutene Spooner, is inspired by the story of Hinewhaititiri and the children of The Weather Gods. It has been created for an initial tour around Tāmaki Makaurau, and includes waiata, movement, script, and puppetry. In 2024, we hope to take this opera on the road, visiting kura across the motu.
