We’re pleased to announce that we are holding a silent auction in support of main-scale productions. The bidding is now open!
Major productions such as The Marriage of Figaro are the backbone of our programming – bringing together live orchestras, local and international singers and incredible costumes and sets in one breath-taking package.
Touring these productions to Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch takes significant resources. We contract the regional orchestras – the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Orchestra Wellington and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra – and employ and rehearse a separate chorus in each city. COVID-19 has imposed new challenges and financial constraints (such as MIQ for international singers) to an already ambitious undertaking.
Proceeds from the auction go directly to supporting main-scale opera in New Zealand.

What fantastic experience have you got your eye on? Maybe an alpine weekend getaway in Queenstown? A double pass to Opera Australia’s Ring Cycle? Perhaps a private opera concert in your own home? Or maybe you could add to your art collection with a limited edition Bronze by Shona Lyon? What about a framed print of Tracy Grant Lord’s beautiful costume designs for The Marriage of Figaro? The silent auction must close on Thursday 24 June at 7.15 pm. All bids must be placed before this time and winners will then be contacted.
