2020 Summer of Opera

Join the tradition, bring along your picnic and enjoy a fabulous evening of music and song with some of New Zealand Opera’s most beautiful singers.  Set over three events at Auckland City Council’s Music in Parks, Hamilton Gardens Art Festival and Christchurch City Council’s Lazy Sundays.

New Zealand Opera & Atlas Voices present….Opera in the Gardens

Date: 16th February 2020 between 3.30pm to 5pm

Venue:  Christchurch Botanic Gardens, Rolleston Ave, Christchurch

New Zealand Opera and Atlas Voices combine forces for a beautiful afternoon of opera under the musical direction of Ravil Atlas. The concert features local soprano Amanda Atlas, Freemasons New Zealand Opera Artist Andrew Grenon (tenor) and the Freemasons New Zealand Opera Chorus accompanied by New Zealand Opera’s Head of Music Lindy Tennent-Brown. The programme includes favourites by Mozart, Donizetti, and Verdi. Bring along a picnic and enjoy the music in the stunning surroundings of the Archery Lawn.

Hamilton Gardens Arts Festival

New Zealand Opera presents….Opera Botanica

Date: 19th & 20th February 2020 8.00 pm

Venue:  The Hamilton Gardens Pavilion

Soak up the scented floral atmosphere with a programme of botanically-inspired songs, arias, and duets, curated and accompanied by New Zealand Opera’s Head of Music, Lindy Tennent-Brown, and featuring some of New Zealand’s most accomplished and beautiful voices including Emma Sloman (soprano), Kate Webber (mezzo-soprano), Lachlan Craig (tenor) and James Harrison (baritone). You’ll be delighted to hear a selection of opera’s most well-loved moments and will discover unfamiliar gems by composers including Vaughan Williams, Finzi, Puccini, and Verdi. Don’t miss New Zealand Opera’s finest, performing in Hamilton for two nights only.
