Max Pappenheim is a sound designer and composer based in south London. He is an Associate Artist of The Faction, Silent Opera, and Orange Tree Theatre, and has trained and worked on Radio Drama with the BBC.
His many theatre credits includeThe Night of the Iguana and Cruise in the West End; The Children on Broadway; Noughts and Crosses and Twelfth Night for Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre; A Raisin in the Sun for Headlong; The Forsyte Saga and The School for Scandal for the Royal Shakespeare Company; A Doll’s House Part 2 and The Way of the World for Donmar Warehouse; The Invention of Love and Blackout Songs for Hampstead Theatre; Henry V for Shakespeare’s Globe and Ophelias Zimmer for a collaboration between Schaubühne and Royal Court Theatre.
Recent opera and ballet work includes Kirsten Flagstad for Bergen International Festival; The Limit with the Royal Ballet; The Marriage of Figaro for Salzburg Festival; Miranda for Paris’ Opéra Comique, Scraww for Trebah Gardens and Hansel and Gretel for Opera Holland Park.
Max has been nominated for numerous awards and won the Off West End Award for Sound Design for Old Bridge with Bush Theatre.
