Ben Knight

Bass-baritone

British bass-baritone Ben Knight is an interdisciplinary artist, opera singer, educator, and community music leader with international experience in the UK, Europe and Aotearoa. He has performed both as soloist and chorus member with English Touring Opera, English National Opera, Royal Ballet and Opera, and was a 2020/21 young artist with Opera Prelude.

He trained at The Royal Academy of Music with a Masters in Voice with Distinction and LRAM Teaching Diploma, and continued as an Open Academy Fellow.

Ben creates curriculums and leads workshops for young people and emerging artists, including projects with Glyndebourne Opera, Spitalfields Music, Welsh National Opera, and the Verbier Festival, and creates SEND resources for Royal Ballet and Opera, alongside Healthy Singing workshops for teachers.

He has taught at King’s College London and is currently a voice professor at Canterbury Christchurch University and in private studio practice in Ōtautahi. Ben has also worked as assistant director for NZ Opera and workshop leader trainer at Dutch National Opera and Ballet.

As an Executive Performance and Resilience Coach, he supports arts leaders and young artists through programmes including TANZOS and St-Martin-in-the- Fields development programmes.
