Design & Vocal Creative Workshops

DESIGN CREATIVE WORKSHOPS

Since 2000, NZ Opera has offered up to 20 students each from two schools the opportunity to work with a set and costume designer over a period of three days to experience developing a full production from scratch. Scale models of production designs and costume mock-ups are created and displayed in the theatre foyer during the opera season. The workshop includes a backstage tour and dress rehearsal ticket. Suitable for Years 7 and 8.

VOCAL CREATIVE WORKSHOPS

Since 2000, NZ Opera has offered up to 20 students each in Auckland and Wellington the chance to work with professional opera practitioners to create their own piece of musical theatre based on the current opera season. The workshop concludes with a showing of their work to peers, friends and family and includes attendance at the opera. Suitable for Years 12 and 13.

Schools Dress Rehearsal Attendance

To further assist the process of introducing children and young adults to opera, New Zealand Opera offers school groups the chance to attend Auckland, Christchurch or Wellington dress rehearsals at a special schools' rate of $10 per student. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to be introduced to the world of professional opera in New Zealand.
