Artistic Director of the Ten Days on the Island Festival in Tasmania, Lindy Hume, is also the former artistic director of Opera Queensland, Sydney Festival, Perth International Arts Festival, West Australian Opera, Victoria State Opera and OzOpera. She has created more than 50 major productions across Australasia, Europe and the United States.
International productions include Rigoletto, The Barber of Seville and Comte Ory for Seattle Opera; Carmen, Cenerentola and Don Pasquale for Oper Leipzig, La Bohème for Deutsche Staatsoper in Berlin, Radamisto for Handel Festspiele in Halle, A Streetcar Named Desire and Norma for Opera Theatre St Gallen in Switzerland, Albert Herring and Phaedra for Aldeburgh Festival as well as The Barber of Seville, Rigoletto and Die Fledermaus for Houston Grand Opera. Her production of Cenerentola has also been presented by New Zealand Opera, San Diego Opera and the Royal Swedish Opera, Stockholm.
Closer to home Lindy has recently directed The Barber of Seville and Carmen for New Zealand Opera, Carmen for West Australian Opera, Don Giovanni and Ruddigore for Opera Queensland, and Handel’s Athalia for Pinchgut Opera.
